This was the Duchess' first visit as SportsAid’s Patron

London, United Kingdom, October 18, 2013 – The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of SportsAid, tried her hand at volleyball today, at the Copper Box in London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. She met with players and coaches from the sport before joining in the impromptu match.

Her Royal Highness met with young athletes from a number of sports, including wheelchair basketball, CP football, volleyball, fencing and badminton.

The engagement provided the Duchess with an opportunity to meet the athletes and their parents and get a detailed insight into the challenges they face.

SportsAid helps the next generation of British athletes by being the first to recognise their achievements and support their ambitions. Since it was established in 1976, the charity has helped many of the UK’s most successful sportsmen and women, including two-thirds of the British team at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
