Home fans’ support boosts Sada Cruzeiro’s bid in Club World Championship

Sada Cruzeiro fortify its campaign with the support of their home fans in taking the FIVB Club World Championship title this year, improving their second place finish last year.

Lausanne, Switzerland, September 29, 2013 – Sada Cruzeiro are out to prove they are worth placing at the top table in their home soil when the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship takes place in Betim from October 15 to 20, 2013.

Following their second place finish in the last edition, the Brazilian club are prepared and heavily favoured to win this edition of the Men’s Club Championship. The club team already has the advantage as thousands of home fans will cheer for them; but the quality of their players and the Brazilians’ style of play, in general, are also the things that are being anticipated by their opponents.

Coach Marcelo Mendez, who has been in charge of the team for five seasons, know that having a tight-knit and constant roster will give them a big fighting chance, which is why he retained most of his players from last season.

Sergio Luiz Seixas Francia Nogueira (Serginho), Wallace de Souza and William Arjona have kept the Sada Cruzeiro lineup almost intact for another fighting chance to take the Club World Championship title. The three players will get support from middle hitter Douglas Cordeiro and outside hitters Filipe Ferraz and Yoandy Leal Hidalgo (Leal), who were also members of last year’s runner-up team in Doha, Qatar.

Fortifying their bid is the addition of players such as young middle hitter Isac Viana Santos, Venezuelan outside hitter Luis Diaz, and opposite hitter Paulo Victor Costa da Silva (PV). The towering middle Eder Carbonera and setter Raphael Florêncio Margarido (Vinhedo) will bring experience to Sada Cruzeiro’s lineup.
