Egypt claim seventh African Nations crown
Sousse, Tunisia, September 27, 2013- Egypt claimed their fifth consecutive African crown and seventh in total after they beat Morocco 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-22) on the fifth and final day of the 2013 Men's African Nations Championship held in Sousse, Tunisia on Friday. The last day featured also a fourth victory for Tunisia over Cameroon 3-2 (19-15, 25-21, 29-27, 19-25, 19-17) and a straight sets win for Algeria over Libya (25-20, 25-16, 25-15). Egypt finished the six nation round robin tournament in the first place with a full record of 5-0 and 14 points followed by Tunisia with a win-loss ratio of 4-1 and 11 points to win the silver medal. Morocco with 3-2 record and seven points gained the bronze medal. Cameroon finished fourth with 2-3 and seven points, while Algeria concluded their campaign 5th with a 1-4 record and seven points followed by Libya at the bottom of the table (0-5). This is the seventh crown for the Egyptians after 1976, 1983, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and the 14th medal in total with five silver and two bronze more medals. Tunisia fought for 134 minutes to claim a five set victory over Cameroon 3-2 (19-15, 25-21, 29-27, 19-25, 19-17) in fantastic match. Algeria set their tournament's first victory against Libya 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-15) in 71 minutes. Algeria improved their win-loss ratio to 1-4 with seven points to finish in the fifth position, while Libya finished in the sixth place with 0-5 record. Results
