Tehran in final preparations for pool B Qualification Tournament
Tehran, Iran, September 9, 2013 – Final preparations are underway for the Asian Men’s Final Qualification Tournament, which will be held from September 11 to 13 at the Azadi Hall in Tehran. The first coordination meeting between the control committee and the organising committee members was held this morning at the Iran Volleyball Federation.
Teams from Bahrain, Indonesia, Pakistan as well as the home team of Iran get set to face each other in order to try and book their ticket to the 2014 Men’s World Championship to be held in Poland.
The Iran Volleyball Federation as the host of pool B competitions has ensured that everything is in place for the smooth running of the tournament.
Present at the meeting were Dr. Davarzani (President of the Iran Volleyball Federation), Mr Yermek Syrlybayev (Technical Supervisor) and Mr. Chang Chin Jong (Referee Delegate).
“According the latest world rankings, we are in the third in the Junior and Youth categories,” said President Davarzani. “We are now doing our best to be among the eight top teams of the world in the senior category. We have done a lot to expand volleyball in every corner of our country. We play a good role in Asia by establishing and maintaining high-quality cooperation with all countries. I can mention our friendly relationship with most volleyball federations of AVC members. We have mutual relations with Kazakhstan and Chinese Taipei for example,” he continued.
“I know most of the people who are in the meeting. You have good experience in organizing different International events as our country. So experienced people, doing a perfect job will bring success to the tournament. I am sure with good collaboration we will have a booming tournament,” said Mr. Yermek Syrlybayev.Volleyball has developed a large fan base in Iran on account of the high performance levels of home teams in different categories across various international tournaments.
