Izmir, Turkey, August 20, 2013 - African Youth champions, Tunisia are now seeking a new era when they start their campaign at the 2013 Men's U21 World Championship to start in Ankara and Izmir, Turkey on Thursday August 22 and continue till September 1.

Tunisia Head coach Mounir Gara who led the North African country to third successive African crown early this year in their homeland is putting a special interest to the first game in the competition against Canada on Thursday.

"Usually we are seeking a big start to gain confidence and this time we are looking forwards to clash Canada to gain motivations towards good position in Pool C," Gara said ahead of the training session on Tuesday few hours before the world championship's opening.

Tunisia will compete in Pool C joined by Serbia, USA, Canada and Rwanda where the top 4 teams secure tickets to the second round (Round of 16), while the fifth ranked team play for the 17th to the 20th positions.

"Our preparation was quiet good as we played in a friendly tournament in Kelibia, Tunisia which featured Russia, Argentina, and India beside the three age category Tunisian team U19, 21 and 23 where we qualified to the final against the heavy favourites for the world championship title Russia. We played also three matches against Estonia where we won them all,"

Tunisia arrived to Izmir on August 14, where they had another chance to prepare with some Turkish club friendlies.

"Our main objective here is to secure a second round ticket, but we need to win more matches, which help us in the rest of the competition through meeting weaker teams in the knock out stage.

Tunisia has the best African performance at this age category qualifying for the 11th time since the start of the competition in 1977; their best show was in fifth position in 1993.
