Serbia to face Bulgaria in friendly match

Serbia are looking to improve on last year's 11th place finish in the World Grand Prix

Ruma, Serbia, July 23, 2013 – The women’s national volleyball team of Serbia, the reigning European Champions, will face Bulgaria in two friendly matches before the start of the 2013 FIVB World Grand Prix.

The matches will be played in the City of Ruma, Serbia, on Wednesday, July 24 at 19:00 CET, and on Thursday, July 25 at 17:00 CET in the Hall of Sports.

This will be Serbia’s third year in a row participating in the FIVB World Grand Prix. They will host Pool F matches in the second weekend of the intercontinental round in Belgrade, from August 9 to 11, where they will play the USA, the Netherlands and Algeria.

In the first weekend of the intercontinental round, Serbia will play in Pool B in Santo Domingo against the host team as well as Puerto Rico and the Czech Republic. On the third weekend (August 16 to 18) matches will take place in Vuhan (China) against the hosts as well as Poland and Argentina.

The World Grand Prix Finals will be played from August 28 to September 1 in Sapporo, Japan, and the best five teams from the Intercontinental Round will earn a spot alongside the hosts.
