Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire advance at African World Championship qualifier
Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, July 20, 2013 – Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire women volleyball National teams secured their tickets to the zonal phase of the 2014 World Championship African qualifier after they finished the Women’s Pool D qualification tournament in first and second places respectively at Palais des Sports Hall in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on Saturday.
The third day featured a straight sets win for Cote d'Ivoire against Burkina Faso (25-19, 25-18, 25-14) in 71 minutes. The winners improved their win/loss ratio to 1-1 to finish the three nation round robin tournament in second position, behind Ghana who finished their matches Friday with 2-0 record.
Burkina Faso was ranked third with 0-2 record.
The African World Championship Qualifier passes through three
stages. The Sub Zonal in July qualifies 30 teams to the second round, which is
the Zonal phase to be held in October and November 2013.
