Bulgaria team willing to help former teammate Peter Uzunov

Peter Uzunov, former middle blocker of the Bulgaria national team, is in hospital and needs financial help for a smooth  recovery. The fact was brought to public attention during the recent CEV Continental Olympic Qualification in Sofia and again raised on Friday, when the team of Matey Kaziyski entered Arena Armeec displaying a big banner. A website has been opened (www.peter-uzunov.hit.bg) to collect funds for the expensive medical care which the Bulgarian player desperately needs.
Uzunov, who played professionally also in Italy and Greece in the nineties, was severely injured during the third match of the play off final in the Bulgarian league this year. The player’s two kneecaps were dislocated for almost 20cm. He underwent two surgeries, was forced in bed for two months and eventually hit by pneumonia and a thrombosis.

The charity campaign continues today and Sunday here in Arena Armeec: volunteers with money boxes ask for fans’ donations.
