Italy captain, Cristian Savani: “It was a wonderful match. I am very happy that we played with wonderful attitude, with passion and heart and good technically. Yesterday some things didn't work, we talked about them and managed to improve. I hope this will help us in the future and we will play better later in the tournament.”

Poland captain Piotr Gruszka: “First of all I would like to congratulate Italy, because they played a really good match. We didn't answer with the same and this is why we lost a pretty easy game. For sure we are not happy about our behavior today. After a match like this we want to find reasons somewhere else, but we can't justify our terrible mistakes in service with anything. I don't know why it happened. It is rare for our team to make so many mistakes in a row, especially easy mistakes. The Italians took control over the entire game. And maybe this was one of the reasons. Perhaps our mistakes were somewhere in our heads, because we were afraid of some actions.”

Poland coach Andrea Anastasi: “Italy played really really well, incredibly good. The better team won tonight. We didn't play well, that's why we lost. The reason of our loss is volleyball. It is a sport. Sometimes you play good, sometimes you play bad. Tonight we played very bad. We made a lot of mistakes, we had problems with defense and service. It was tough for me to play against Italy, but my boys were the ones in white-and-red shirts, I am a part of this team. I told them that. I told them that yesterday we had won together and tonight we had lost together. Zbigniew Bartman is out of the tournament, out of the game for at least six weeks, so definitely losing him hurt us, because he is always a big problem for our rivals' middle-blockers. But I hope tomorrow we will play better, we have to find a solution.”

Italy coach Mauro Berrutto: “It is an honour to play in such atmosphere. We were a small blue spot in this white-and-red sea, so I want to thank the spectators. This was one of those matches that coaches dream about. I didn't sleep well last night after the loss. Today we managed to switch our attitudes and played better in every element. Now I have to concentrate only about tomorrow, about 5:15pm, because this will be our ticket to the semifinals.”
