Team Profile Head coach
The China national women’s volleyball team established itself on the world stage with a solid run of five consecutive world championships in the 1980s. After some ups and downs in the 1990s, the team recovered to win the World Cup in 2003 and capture the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

The new squad was named in early March 2005 with a view to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. In addition to some Olympic gold medalists, this new team also includes some fresh young talent with all-round ability and their own distinct characteristics. The total of eighteen players, whose average age is 21.6 and average height is 185.8, come from nine different provinces as well as the army club. This team will develop the traditional strength of the Chinese women’s volleyball team, uphold the spirit of solidarity and assiduity, perfectly combine the old and the young players and ultimately aim to win more world championship titles.
