Over 160,000 fans watch World Grand Champions Cup

Tokyo, November 27, 2005: Over 160,000 fans watched the women's and men's World Grand Champions Cup tournaments in Japan, the FIVB announced in Tokyo on Sunday.
The women's competition, held in Tokyo and Nagoya and won by Brazil, attracted 76,472 spectators for the five days of action.
The men's event, held at Nagano and Tokyo and also won by Brazil, was watched by 86,100 Volleyball fans.
This gave a grand total of 162,572 for the fourth edition of the FIVB's inter-continental championship.
There was US$2 million in prize money at stake, for teams and individual players, and Brazil won the majority with US$300,000 for each gold medal-winning team.
In addition, women's MVP and best scorer Sheilla Castro (Brazil) and men's MVP and best scorer Andre Nascimento (Brazil) both collected US$100,000 for their two individual awards.
