Sentul, Indonesia, November 12, 2015 – An FIVB Beach Volleyball International Referee Candidate Course was opened on Thursday by the President of the National Volleyball Federation of Indonesia, Imam Sudjarwo. It will end on November 17.

The course is being directed by FIVB Beach Refereeing Commission member Jose Casanova from Portugal and FIVB Instructor Peter Paul Hreszscuk from Australia.

The 15 participants, include both men and women, are from Australia, Greece, Canada, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Korea, Zimbabwe, Japan and Indonesia.

During the Opening Ceremony Mr. Sudjarwo said: “This is our second time to hold this course since 18 years ago in Jakarta. We hope with this course we can also promote beach volleyball in our country as well as indoor volleyball. And also this course is part of our preparation to be host of the Asian Games 2018.”

Jose Casanova emphasised to the participants that they not only need to learn how to understand the rules but also how to implement and apply them in a match.
