For the first time in the history of the FIVB, the Coaching, Refereeing and Rules Commissions held a joint meeting on Tuesday
Lausanne, Switzerland, January 19, 2010 – For the first time in the history of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), three commissions – Coaching, Refereeing and Rules – held a joint meeting at the FIVB headquarters on Tuesday.
FIVB President Mr. Jizhong Wei addressed the meeting by encouraging all members to take advantage of this historic occasion to work on the better development of the sport of Volleyball, keeping the best interests and health of the athletes in mind.
Items discussed included team composition (12 or 14 players), review of the trial of Libero rule modifications, review of the latest rule changes (net touch, centre line penetration) and the trial of the Golden Formula during the FIVB Men’s World Club World Championships in Qatar.
The joint commission meeting findings will be proposed to the Executive Committee in April.
Each of the commissions held individual meetings before and after the joint half-day meeting.
