Brazilian King of the Beach - Franco or Fabio
 

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, February 10, 2007 - Fabio Magalhaes and Franco Neto will compete here Sunday on the sands of Ipanema for the Brazilian King of the Beach crown after posting 3-0 marks to win their groups against three other players.

 

Both players will be seeking their first Brazilian King of the Beach title as Franco won his group that included Ricardo Santos, Marcio Araujo and Nalbert Bitencourt.  With Luizao Correa, the defending KOB champion, in his group, Fabio also out-scored Emanuel Rego and Pedro Cunha in his group.

 

In addition to crowning the ninth Brazilian King of the Beach, Sunday action will also determine part of the team for the Brazil vs. USA Challenge match set for February 18 on Ipanema against Americans Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers.

 

The women's Queen of the Beach will be February 16-17 with the Brazilian winner and partner playing Rachel Wacholder and Kerri Walsh of the United States February 25 in the Challenge Match.  With a knee injury sidelining Leila Barros, Val Santos Leao has been added to the Brazilian Queen of the Beach field.

 

Val, the 2004 Brazilian QOB, joins defending champion Shaylyn Bede in the field along with Talita Antunes, Ana Paula Connelly, Juliana Felisberta Silva, Larissa Franca, Sandra Pires and Renata Ribeiro.
