FIVB President meets with Dentsu delegation during FIVB VNL Men’s Finals

Chicago, USA, 12 July 2019 – FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° held a meeting with a senior team from Dentsu during the FIVB VNL Men’s Finals in Chicago this week. Dentsu, a Japanese international marketing agency, holds exclusive marketing rights for FIVB in Japan. The Dentsu delegation was led by Mr. Soichi Takahashi, Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Global Sports Division.

FIVB and Dentsu agreed to take significant steps to further advance volleyball in Japan, working more closely with the Japanese Volleyball Association (JVA). As the birthplace of Olympic volleyball, Japan has a strong history and tradition tied to the sport. Volleyball was first included in the Olympic programme 55 years ago at Tokyo 1964. Japan has hosted the FIVB Volleyball World Cup since 1977 and will once again stage the upcoming edition in September 2019, less than a year before Tokyo 2020.

Speaking after the meeting, FIVB President Ary Graça stated:

“The FIVB is pleased to work together with Dentsu to grow the game of volleyball in Japan at all levels. Japan has successfully hosted world-class FIVB events in the past and we are looking forward to the 2019 FIVB World Cup in September and to seeing great success at Tokyo 2020, as our beloved sport returns to its Olympic birthplace.”

Dentsu will also welcome the FIVB President to Japan for a visit in September. The parties agreed to set up meetings with current and potential volleyball sponsors and partners, as well as leading Japanese TV companies. The FIVB will also discuss its new strategy and future plans for volleyball development with the Dentsu Commercial department in Japan, including the progress made in different regions across the world in the past few years through sport presentation, innovative technology and more.
