President Graça attends Doha GOALS Forum

Doha GOALS was created as the premier platform for world leaders to advance social initiatives through sport
Doha, Qatar, December 13, 2012 – FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° continued his impressive meeting agenda after attending the Doha GOALS Forum, which ran from Monday to Wednesday in Doha, Qatar where he was joined by honorary FIVB President Jizhong Wei.

Key topics of the forum, where former France President Nicolas Sarkozy was a key-note speaker, included:

How can sport be an agent of change for society.

How can federations and sporting governing bodies achieve more.

How to encourage more women and girls to participate in sport.

How to use sport to alleviate social challenges facing children and young adults.

Doha GOALS was created as the premier platform for world leaders to advance social initiatives through sport. Rather than acting as a conference – where ideas are traded but rarely enacted – Doha GOALS was a two-and-a-half day initiative with the express intent of empowering stakeholders to create a roadmap for social improvement through sport, and launch cross-border initiatives.

President Graça’s attendance to the Doha GOALS Forum followed a visit to the Algeria Volleyball Federation and previous meetings at the FIVB headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. He heads to Rio de Janiero, Brazil on Thursday ahead of the FIVB Executive Committee meeting which will take place on Saturday.
