Dr Graça met with key figures in Tunisian volleyball
Tunis, Tunisia, May 9, 2017 - FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° met representatives of the Tunisian Volleyball Federation and key government officials on Tuesday to discuss the country's candidature to host the 2019 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championships and the ways the federation could develop volleyball in the country.

The Boys' U19 World Championships concept was presented to the Tunisian Minister of Sports Mrs Majdouline Cherni. In their discussions, President Graça underlined the important role hosting the Championships can play in engaging more young people in volleyball and ensuring the sport’s long-term development in Tunisia.

“For any country, organising the Boys’ U19 World Championship provides an excellent opportunity to connect young people with the volleyball and inspire them to get involved in the sport," Dr Graça said

Our vision at the FIVB is to make volleyball the world’s number one family sport and getting you people engaged and participating in volleyball is a key part of that.

We encourage all of our member nations to look at the possibility of hosting FIVB events which not only bring the world to their country but also provide a positive legacy for the sport in their country.”

The meeting with Tunisian Minister Majdouline Cherni and member of parliament Mohamed Ennaceur was also attended by African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) President Dr. Amr Elwani and by Tunisian Volleyball Federation President Dr. Feras El Faleh.

It followed a meeting between President Graça and the Tunisian Volleyball Federation Board of Administration, which was also attended by Tunisian coaches. During the meeting, President Graça shared his experience of developing volleyball in Brazil and provided examples of the ways Tunisia could grow the sport.

The development of volleyball and beach volleyball around the world is a key component of the FIVB’s mission as the international federation continues to build on the success of the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games during a golden period for the sport.
