Referees Course, Line Judges and Scorers in Dominican Republic

 
Participants from the 32 provinces of Dominican Republic took part in the national course for referees, line judges, scorers and electronic sheet
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, March 10, 2014 - The FIVB/NORCECA Regional Development Volleyball Center in collaboration with NORCECA Confederation, the Dominican Republic Volleyball National Federation, the Ministry of Sport and the DR Olympic Committee organized a national course for Referees, Line Judges, Scorers and Electronic Sheet.

Representatives from the 32 provincial volleyball associations totaling 71 participated in the course which ran from March 7-9 under the supervision of former referee Salvador Bautista, president of the refereeing commission of DR Federation, active beach volleyball and volleyball referee Juvenal Collado, and Bienvenido Mateo, VIS instructor.

The opening ceremony of the course was attended by Cristobal Marte, President of the NORCECA Confederation, Ramon García, President of the Dominican Republic Federation, Antonio Acosta, General Secretary of the DR Olympic Committee, Jose Luis Suero, representative of the Ministry of Sports and Nelson Ramirez, Director of the Development Center.

Garcia commended the massive participation of referees and volunteers from all over the country saying the course forms part of the National Federation programs to impulse the development of the sport in Dominican Republic.

“We need to continue the development of the referees and officials while we move forward with the development of players and teams in the whole territory of the country,” he said.

The course consisted of 30 hours of theoretical and practical instructions on the basic aspects of the game.
