Uganda and Tunisia sign two year development partnership

The Uganda Volleyball Cranes are just on the African volleyball teams who could benefit from the partnership between Uganda and Tunisia

Kampala Uganda, January 28, 2014 – The Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) has signed a two year partnership with the Federation of Tunisian Volleyball (FTVB) for the organisation of a number of exchange programmes for national teams, clubs, trainers, referees and administrators over a two year period.

The agreement was signed by UVF head Sadik Nasiwu and his Tunisian counterpart Ben Slimane Mourn.

Uganda hopes that this agreement will lead to the annual participation of two teams (one male one female) at volleyball tournaments.

There is also a provision for the FTVB to present the UVF with its development plan for the technical training of the teams and coaches. The two parties will ensure the exchange of information and discuss all matters regarding the challenges and solutions of the game through their respective technical commissions.

The UVF and FTVB have agreed to meet annually in order to evaluate the implementation and level of cooperation as well as to exchange information about volleyball development. The FTVB will help the UVF prepare Ugandan teams and officials technically, tactically and mentally. A series of friendly games between Uganda and Tunisia are also forseen.

The arrangement also guarantees local transport, accommodation and board for a maximum of 17 people on the Ugandan delegation. The two parties also agreed to have clubs and national teams take part in each other’s main volleyball tournaments.

Though the UVF is yet to confirm Uganda’s representatives (Nkumba, Ndejje, and Nemostars) at the Africa Volleyball Club Championships which will be the first recipients of this programme. The Maghreb nation of Tunisia will host both the men’s and women’s Club Championships in March and April, respectively.
