The course was held under the leadership of FIVB instructor Mr. Guillermo Enrique Paredes from Argentina.

St. Georges, Grenada, August 26, 2013 – The Volleyball Federation of Grenada held a VCP Refereeing Course from August 17 to 21.

There were 15 participants who took part in the five day course and the opening ceremony was attended by Mrs. Emmalin Pierre (Minister of Sport) as well as Mrs Veda Bruno-Victor (General Secretary of the Grenada Olympic Committee).

Speaking at the ceremony both Pierre and Victor-Bruno acknowledged the important work that is being done by the FIVB assist less developed countries and regions of the world with the development of volleyball and beach volleyball.

They also encouraged the participants to stay focused on developing their skills further in order for the sport to progress within the islands. National Federation President Mr. Ralph C.S. Lord also expressed his strong interest in organising another course next year.

The referee course is part of the Volleyball Cooperation Programme designed to educate and train new referees at the national level. It also provides National Federations with a structure so that they may continue to develop their national referees.
