Level 1 Coaches Course underway in Sierra Leone

The course began on July 8 and will run until July 19

Freetown, Sierra Leone, July 10, 2013 – A Level I coaches course is currently being conducted, together with Olympic Solidarity, in the Sierra Leone capital of Freetown.

The course was opened in the presence of Deputy Minister for Land and Housing and the Minister for Youth and Sports, H.E. Mr. Kamara together with other national federation officials. Minister Kamara expressed his enthusiasm for the course and applauded the efforts of the national federation in helping to boost the popularity of the sport in the country. Volleyball is one of the few sports associations which participate in international competitions.

Wishing the participants every success, Mr. Kamara hoped that volleyball would be used as an example for other sports federations to follow in Sierra Leone.

The Level 1 Coaches courses are offered through the Volleyball Cooperation Programme (VCP). It is a course aimed at helping local coaches increase their skills and knowledge on the fundamentals of the game and how to form teams. National Federations may host one Coaches Course every 4 years.
