New Zealand's young players ready to stamp their mark internationally
Nelson, New Zealand, April 30, 2013 – Volleyball New Zealand has announced the junior and youth volleyball and beach volleyball teams that will represent the country in the USA and Europe over the next three months.

In Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (USA) four volleyball teams will take part in the USA High Performance Championships alongside US state and international teams. The teams from New Zealand will be hosted by USA Volleyball during the tournament, which will take place from July 23 to 27.
In the beach discipline of the sport, U19 women’s beach teams will travel to Los Angeles in late June, where they will train and compete in the West Coast Tournament. New Zealand will also send an U19 Women’s Beach Volleyball Team – which will include local stars Olivia MacDonald and Trixie Croad – to the FIVB U19 World Championships to be held in Porto, Portugal from July 11 to 14.
Beach Volleyball is the current strength of high performance volleyball in New Zealand with the country’s number one team, Kirk Pitman and Jason Lochhead, standing 30th in the 2012 world rankings. Following in their footsteps are a number of young men and women performing with credit on the world stage and who are showing a lot of promise as they progress through the National Tour and Asian events.
In line with its strategy to develop the sport national, the federation also organised a High Performance Beach Age Group Training Camp in Auckland from April 25 to 28 which saw the participation of 21 local teams.
