Beach volleyball course in Kabul ends successfully
The Beach Volleyball Grassroots Course saw 32 participants receive the FIVB VCP certificate during the closing ceremony, which was covered by national media.
In his address to the players and coaches, Dr. Younis Popalzay, President of Afghan Volleyball Federation (AVF), asked the participants to go back home to their provinces and teach beach volleyball with the knowledge they had gained at the seminar.
FIVB instructor Johann Huber, from Austria, extended his stay in Kabul, doing additional training with the women’s national team.
The closing ceremony took place on the beach volleyball court in the Olympic sports complex, which the participants had helped to refurbish. There was an exhibition match as part of the event.
There was also the distribution of special kids’ balls to the representatives of the Panjshir, Paktika, Kandahar, Orozgan, Helmand, Wardak, Logar and Parwan provinces.
Mr Huber supervised the distribution, and was asked to inform the FIVB that the AVF appreciated its support and development fund. The balls and nets would help encourage the spread of the sport, the AVF said, helping to develop a peaceful future for the country.
