The winning teams celebrate

Male, Maldives, March 17, 2013 – The Maldives Volleyball Federation held an U14 and U16 volleyball championship on March 11 and 15.

On March 11, the boys’ team from Kalaafaanu school beat the Dharumavantha school team to take the gold medal in the Under 14 boys’ age group. The Majeediiya school team won the bronze medal. On the same day, Kalaafaanu School followed suit to claim the girls gold medal in the same age category after beating the Amneeyya school team.

On March 15, the Maafushi school (MFS) beat Madhrasathul Ahmadhiyya (MAH) 3-0 to become the U16 champions of the ongoing MILO Inter School Volleyball Championship for 2013. The bronze medal went to the Majeediiya school. The Galolhu Madharusa (GLM) girls’ team beat Madhrasathul Ahmadhiyya (MAH) in straight sets to claim the title for the same category in the afternoon’s final match played at Youth Center Indoor Hall. Hiriya School took the third place.

A total of 34 teams, comprising 408 players, over three age groups are competing in this year's school championship, taking place from March 7 to 20.
