Polish Volleyball wins Social Responsibility award

Young Polish volleyball fans will have more opportunities than ever before to get involved in the sport
Warsaw, Poland, 28 February, 2013 – The Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS) has been rewarded for its School Volleyball Centres by winning a national award for most innovative Corporate Social Responsibility project.

The award was given by the Editors of weekly magazine Wprost and accepted by Witold Roman, the PZPS’s vice-president for training.

The School Volleyball Centres program was initiated in September 2012 and took in 128 schools across the country. The Schools are a joint initiative between the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the PZPS and they previously won another award for ‘Best Business Partnership’.

With over 100 schools involved in the project across the country, the aim is now to continue and develop it further in 2013.

“The need to continue this project is vital for the long-term planning of developing volleyball among teenagers and children in Poland,” project head Waldemar Wspanialy said. “There is also the need to standardise training systems, to find new talent and create equal opportunities for children in every Polish region.”

The goal in 2013 is to increase the number of participants to 4,600 children taking part in 310 schools. Then in 2014 the aim is take the number of children being coach to 5,760.
