Teams line up for King of the Court event from September 9-12

Norway's Anders Mol and Christian Sorum
Lausanne, Switzerland, August 14, 2020 – Many of the world’s top men’s and women’s teams will participate in the King of the Court 2020 beach volleyball tournament in Utrecht, Netherlands from September 9-12.

The tournament consists of 20 teams per gender, including four host country wild card teams, four international wild card teams and 12 teams through the open registration pathway.

Ranked number 1 in the world, Norway’s Anders Mol and Christian Sorum lead the list of teams in the men’s tournament, together with 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship silver medallists Julius Thole and Clemens Wickler of Germany and top home pair Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen, who are former world champions and Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medallists. Spain’s Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira will try to repeat their success after being crowned King of the Court in Utrecht in 2018.

Brazilian duos Agatha Bednarczuk/Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda) and Ana Patricia Silva Ramos/Rebecca Cavalcanti Barbosa Silva are the top two ranked teams in the women’s tournament. Also competing are Joana Heidrich/Anouk Vergé-Dépré of Switzerland and reigning World Tour Finals winners Laura Ludwig/Margareta Kozuch of Germany.

The first international sports event on Dutch soil since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic will be played on the Jaarbeursplein in Utrecht, when the 'King of the Court' beach volleyball tournament returns in the second week of September.
