Top-ranked FIVB World Tour players competing in Military World Games

Wuhan, China, September 24, 2019 - Led by Brazilian Olympians and world champions Evandro Goncalves and Bruno Oscar Schmidt, several top-ranked teams from the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour are competing here this week in the seventh annual 7th CISM Military World Games.
Currently ranked fifth on the FIVB World Tour, Evandro and Bruno meet No. 13 Ilya Leshukov and Konstantin Semenov of Russia in the men's quarterfinals on Thursday with the winner playing a team from Oman in the semifinals on Friday. The all-Oman quarterfinal match pits No. 113 Nouh Al-Jalbubi/Mazin Alhashmi against No. 183 Ahmed Alhousni/Haitham Alshereiqi.
On the lower half of the men's CISM Military World Games bracket, No. 44 Likejiang Ha/Jiaxin Wu of China challenge No. 27 Saymon Barbosa/Gustavo "Guto" Carvalhaes of Brazil with the No. 357 Poniewaz twins (Bennet and David) of Germany meeting unranked Ting yang Yan/Ch. W. Zhou of China.
Five women's pairs listed on the FIVB World Tour ranking are competing in the quarterfinals - No. 17 Talita Antunes/Taiana Lima of Brazil, No. 21 Fan Wang/X. Y. Xia of China, No. 54 Leonie Kortzinger/Sarah Schneider of Germany, No. 135 Bing Bai/Yuan Lvwen of China and No. 162 Li Jiang/Hui Min Zhao of China.
On Thursday in the Round of Eight, Wang/Xia play Schneider/Koertzinger, Bai/Yuan meet Nadezda Makroguzova/Daria Rudykh of Russia, Talita/Taiana face Lin Zhu and Agatha Rippel/Eduarda "Duda" Lisboa of Brazil confront Jiang/Zhao.  
The men's and women's semifinals at the CISM Military World Games will be played Friday followed by the podium placement matches will be staged Saturday.

Brazil win women's volleyball event
On Tuesday, Brazil defeated China 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19)
