Volleyball calendar ushers in new season

The FIVB Volleyball Calendar for 2015
Lausanne, Switzerland, December 5, 2014 - A true volleyball feast awaits in 2015 with the FIVB Volleyball Club World Championships first on the programme in May and the season reaching a climax with the FIVB Volleyball World Cup in August and September. The world’s top clubs will be the first to take centre stage in 2015 as the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship gets underway in Brazil from May 5-10. The women’s competition is set to take place from 5/6-10 May in Switzerland.

The middle of May will see the beginning of the 26th edition of the FIVB Volleyball World League, which is set to run from May 16 to July 19. The Group 3 Finals will take place in Slovakia from July 3-5. They will be followed by the Group 2 Finals in Bulgaria from July 10-12 and the Group 1 Finals in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from July 14-19.

The 23rd edition of the premier annual competition for women's national teams - the 2015 Volleyball World Grand Prix - begins in June. The Preliminary Round from June 26 to July 18 will be followed by the Group 3 Finals to be played in Australia from July 10-12. The Group 2 Finals in Poland will be from July 31-August 2. The Group 1 Finals will decide the winners of the competition from July 22-26 in Omaha, USA.

The 2015 volleyball season will reach its climax when the world’s top national teams convene in Japan for the quadrennial 2015 FIVB Volleyball World Cup. The women’s competition from August 22 to September 6 will be followed by the men’s competition from September 8-23.

Six Age-Group World Championships complete the volleyball calendar for 2015.

First up is the Women’s U20 World Championship, which will take place in Limassol and Kato Polemidia, Cyprus from July 3-12. It will be followed by the Women’s U23 World Championship in Ankara, Turkey from August 12-19. The Men’s U23 World Championship will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from August 24-31. The Men’s U21 World Championship will be played from September 11-20 in Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico.

Finally, The Girls' U18 World Championship will see 20 teams compete in Lima, Peru from August 7-16. The Boys' U19 World Championship will follow at the end of August or beginning of September (dates to be confirmed) in Argentina.
