Twelve women’s teams undefeated in Youth Olympics after two pool play rounds
Nanjing, China, August 18, 2014 - Twelve countries improved their women’s pool play records to 2-0 here Monday during the second of five days of group Beach Volleyball competition in the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games at the sport’s venue in the Nanjing Sports Park Complex.
Beach Volleyball newcomers from Chinese Taipei (Tzu-Yi Pan/Yu-Rong Song) and Saint Lucia (Skye Mondesir/Dala Noel) have made “surprising” break-throughs in Pool C and will be seeking their third-straight win in the Youth Olympics against teams from Uruguay and Turkey, respectively. The two teams will meet Friday during the final day of pool play.
Germany (silver, Lisa Arnholdt/Sarah Schneider) and Canada (bronze, Megan McNamara/Nicole McNamara), two teams that reached the podium at the recently-completed FIVB under-19 world championships in Portugal, have also won their opening two Youth Olympic pool matches with wins over pairs from the Bolivia and Namibia, respectively.
