France crowns new beach volleyball champions

Saint-Jean-de-Monts, France, August 26, 2013 – Two new teams have been crowned champions in the men’s and women’s competition of the France Beach Volleyball Championship that took place on the beaches of Saint-Jean-de-Monts on Sunday.

The women’s finals saw the junior team of Helena Cazaute/ Aline Chamereau take on Deborah Montpelliéraines Giaoui/ Mathilde Giordano. Although the less experienced team of Cazaute/Chamereau started off the match well, they were unable to keep up the pace, allowing Giaoui/Giodarno to take the gold medal 2-1 (18-15, 21-15, 15-10). Haragova-Formánková took the third place on the podium after beating Longuet/Adelin 2-1 (20-22, 21-19, 15-10) in the women’s competition for 2013.

In the men’s competition, Yannick Salvetti/ Jean-Baptiste Daguerre won the gold medal match
2-0 (21-17, 21-18) concluding a great year for them on the beach volleyball circuit. The team of Basset/Ullmann then beat Bosqui/Gosselin 2-1 (15-21, 21-19, 15-8) to complete the podium with the bronze medal.
