China's Jin Jieqiong & Miao Chenchen triumph at Vietnam Tuan Chau – Halong Open

Halong, Vietnam, April 28, 2013 - Jin Jieqiong and Miao Chenchen of China 1 won the gold medal of the AVC Women’s Beach Volleyball Tour 2013 Vietnam Tuan Chau – Halong Open after beating Thailand 1’s Tenpaksee Usa and Sannok Jarunee in the final on Sunday.

In the last encounter of the Open, Jin and Miao - the 2013 Chinese national beach volleyball champions from Shanghai - secured the gold against the experienced Thai pair in a cool two sets 2-0 (21-18, 21-9) in only 32 minutes.

In the third place playoff on Sunday, the bronze medal went to China 2's Huang Chunmei and Li Ying after beating Australia’s Jordan and Justine Mowen 2-0 (21-19, 21-19).

On Saturday, Jin and Miao clinched two wins to enter the final, first beating Thailand 2’s Khantarak Kija and Laosaengsa Ariya 2-0 (21-13, 21-14) in the quarterfinals and then met Australia 2’s Mowen sisters, winning 2-0 (21-11, 21-9) with ease in 27 minutes in the second semifinal.

Usa and Jarunee beat Japan 2's Tanaka Shinako and Ishida Angela 23-21, 21-14 in the quarterfinals and their semifinal was against another Chinese duo China 2's Huang Chunmei and Li Ying, who outclassed Urata Keiko and Suzuki Chiyo of Japan 1 2-0 (21-14, 21-17) in the quarterfinal. The Thais fought hard in the second set, taking 46 minutes to win their position in the final 2-0 (21-14, 22-20).
