China, Thailand and Australia top Vietnam Open pools

 
Vietnam girls were knocked out by Australia at the Tuan Chau – Halong Open

Halong, Vietnam, April 26, 2013 - The top seeded teams, Thailand 1’s Tenpaksee Usa and Sannok Jarunee, Jin Jieqiong and Miao Chenchen of China one, China 2's Huang Chunmei and Li Ying and Artacho Mariafe and Ngauamo Jessyka of Australia 1, each finished top in their respective pool on Friday to directly enter the single elimination knock-out phase of the AVC Women’s Beach Volleyball Tour 2013 Vietnam Tuan Chau – Halong Open.

 

Thailand 1’s Tenpaksee Usa and Sannok Jarunee completed their Pool A matches by beating strong rivals Australia 2 Mowen Jordan and Mowen Justine 2-0 (21-18, 21-16) in 33 minutes. The Thai pair finished top of the pool with perfect record.

 

In Pool B, Artacho Mariafe and Ngauamo Jessyka of Australia 1 continued their run with a hard fought match against Khantarak Kija and Laosaengsa Ariya from Thailand 2 and took 49 minutes to rally from the first set loss, beating the Thais 2-1 (18-21, 21-17, 15-7).

 

Urata Keiko and Suzuki Chiyo of Japan 1 beat Tilley and Shaunna Polley from New Zealand 2-0 (21-17, 21-14). The win placed the Japanese women second in Pool C, after Jin Jieqiong and Miao Chenchen of China one, who completed their pool matches with perfect record on Thursday.

 

Pool D’s leader is China 2's Huang Chunmei and Li Ying, who defeated Vietnam 1’Phan Thi Cam Hong and Huynh Do Hong Loan on Friday 2-1 (21-15, 15-21, 15-13).

 

Later, in the first round of the elimination phase in which the four pool leaders have a bye, host teams were all knocked out, with Vietnam1’Phan Thi Cam Hong and Huynh Do Hong Loan beaten by Australia 2 Mowen Jordan and Mowen Justine 2-0 (21-14, 21-13) and Vietnam2’s Tran Cam Thi and Mai Thi Koa losing to Urata Keiko and Suzuki Chiyo of Japan 1, 2-1 (21-19, 19-21, 15-9)

 

In the other matches of the knockout round, Khantarak Kija and Laosaengsa Ariya from Thailand 2 outclassed Hong Kong’s Chan Chau Wing and Wong Wai Fong 21-12, 21-15, and Japan 2's Tanaka Shinako and Ishida Angela beat Tilley and Shaunna Polley from New Zealand 2-0 (21-13, 21-10).
