The Paraguayan team in the 2012 season

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, March 21, 2013 – After four stops, the South American Circuit will move to Paraguay’s capital, Asuncion where the Continental Beach Volleyball party will be held from March 22 to 24. In all there are 24 teams hailing from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay and Venezuela and the host country will participate with four local pairs in the men’s and women’s  categories.

As Bruno Zubizarreta, President of the Paraguayan Volleyball Federation said, “We are pleased to be hosting this high level competition that takes place in our country for a third time. This year the Tournament will take place at the Eco Park Felicidad. These courts are artificial and are equipped with lighting, which means that in the games can be played late into the evening without a problem.”

“Beach volleyball has grown considerably in our country over the last 3 years and we believe that we will grow more still. Our women’s team won the silver medal at the Beach Volleyball Bolivarian Games in 2012, which was a big step for our athletes. For this tournament, we are convinced that we can achieve good results with both the men’s and women’s teams."

At the fourth stop of the South American Beach Volleyball Circuit held in Lima, Peru Brazilian duo Rebecca-Liliane won gold while Elize-Fernanda went away with silver in the women’s competition. Thiago-Alvaro took home gold in the men’s competition leaving the Grimalt cousins with silver and third place to Venezuela’s Mussa-Colina.
