Costa Ricans Morales and Alfaro win gold at home
San Jose, Costa Rica, March 17, 2013 – Costa Ricans Ingrid Morales and Natalia Alfaro, the pre-tournament favorites, delighted the local fans with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-11) victory over Elia Torrez and Swan Mendoza of Nicaragua to win the women’s beach volleyball crown at the 10th Central American Games.
“This triumph belongs to Costa Rica, that’s the only thing I can say at this moment,” Morales said after celebrating with the fans. “We wanted to present this gift to the fans. I don’t think we are superior. What happened on the court is only the result of hard work.”
