The total number of days is 110 before the superstars of international beach volleyball take to the sand to see if Emanuel Rego and Alison Cerutti can retain their world crown in the men’s competition and who will follow Juliana Felisberta da Silva and Larissa França as women’s world champions.

“We are very proud that we were able to award the organisation of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships 2013 to Poland,” FIVB Board member and Beach Volleyball Commission President Vicente Araujo said. “Stare Jablonki is one of the most popular arenas, so many of the world’s biggest stars will be in action and the stadium will be full of enthusiastic supporters.”

“Beach volleyball is a sport growing in popularity all over the world with more than 150 countries involved at the top level. The interest of fans, as well as the experience of the Polish Volleyball Federation, will make the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships 2013 in Poland a great success, such as the previous two in Stavanger and Rome. We want to thank everyone for their tremendous support, especially the Ministry of Sport, the Polish Volleyball Federation and the partners and promoters of the event.”

One of the most exciting initiatives for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships 2013 will be a court on an island in the middle of the lake as promoter Tomasz Dowgiallo explained. “We can officially confirm that one of the courts will be built on water,” he told journalists. “We will also organise a charity match, featuring some volleyball stars in a Poland v Serbia encounter - with Sebastian Swiderski and Vladimir Grbic the leaders of the two teams.”

Other guests attending the press conference were Aneta Rostkowska, President of the Foundation Heroes, Jacka Kasprzyka, Chairman of the Polish Volleyball Federation Beach Volleyball Department, Boguslawa Galazke, CEO of Special Olympics and Zygmunta Chajzera, the Special Olympics ambassador.
