World University Beach Volleyball elimination rounds underway

In keeping with the spirit of university games, spectators are being welcomed free of charge to the arena at Pajucara Beach | Maceió, Brazil, September 14, 2012 – September 13 marked the beginning of elimination matches of the 2012 World University Beach Volleyball Championship in Maceió. After more than 60 classification games, the pairs went onto the court seeking a berth in the elimination rounds of the tournament.
About fifty double-elimination games are running through September 13 and 14 in the Pajuçara Beach arena. But many top female teams, including Laboureur/Schumacher (Germany), Dubovcova/Nestracova (Slovakia), Bonnerova/Hermannova (Czech Republic), Mersmann/Tillmann (Germany), Ross/Day (USA) and Pauline/Raquel (Brazil), placed first in their groups and have a bye into the first round of playoffs.
Among the men, Luciano/Alvaro (Brazil), Garcia/Marco (Spain), Bergmann/Stiel (Germany), Lenc/Pridal (Czech Republic) and Catschegn/Buhler (Switzerland) also secured first place in the group stage of classification and can rest until the start of playoffs.
