Laciga picks Alison/Emanuel for gold, Nummerdor/Schuil for bronze

Laciga is a three-time Olympic beach volleyball player and currently plays on the FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour
London, Great Britain, August 9, 2012 - Martin Laciga believes Brazil’s Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego look like the stronger team going into their gold medal match with Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann of Germany in his latest blog on the FIVB website.

However, despite his thoughts, he also says it could be a close match, with both teams set to clash on Thursday.

“The gold medal match will be a battle between the two best blockers in beach volleyball in Alison and Reckermann and Emanuel the legendary offensive player and Brink the best defensive player so it could easily go to tiebreaker to determine the champion and each set could also easily go to overtime as well,” said Laciga. “It will be so close that it will be some little thing that happens that will change the flow of the match.”

Laciga also expects the experience of Dutch pair Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil to give them the edge over Latvia’s Martins Plavins and Janis Smedins.
