Lima and Vivian need huge effort to see off Johns and Boulton and take bronze at London 2012 test event

Taiana Lima (left) and Vivian Cunha had to fight hard against Denise Johns and Lucy Boulton to win silver at Horse Guard's Parade

London, Great Britain, August 14, 2011 – Taiana Lima and Vivian Cunha ensured that there would be two Brazilian teams on the podium at the London 2012 test event after they beat local favourites Denise Johns and Lucy Boulton to take the bronze.

“We wanted the gold medal,” Taiana said, “but it is the bronze medal and I’m very happy with it, especially with it being here in London.”

The Brazilians overcame a boisterous Horse Guard’s Parade crowd that was vociferous in its support of Britain’s Johns and Boulton. Eventually Taiana and Vivian edged a close match with a 21-19, 21-18 win.

“The very was very well balanced and both teams were siding out well and served well,” Taiana said. “It was very, very good effort.”

Fello Brazilians Liliane Maetrini and Angela Vieira were playing Jennifer Kessy and April Ross of the United States in the gold medal match.
