China confirm quarterfinal spot
World number three China recorded a comfortable straight sets win over Germany on Friday to become the first women's team to qualify for the quarterfinals with three wins and one defeat.

The World Cup title holders were in fine form, taking just over an hour to dismiss Germany, who, with only one match remaining, have a fight on their hands to grab the fourth quarterfinal spot in the pool, having only recorded one win from four matches.

The first set started with both teams trying to take charge of the game but it was Suhong ZHOU, Hao YANG and Ping ZHANG who were more efficient then Germany's Angelina GRUN and Judith SYLVESTER. As a result, China slowly but surely grabbed the lead and then gradually pulled away to claim the first set by seven points.

China was the "boss" of the second set too. Germany seemed unable to resist the great variety shown by the Chinese attack.

Having lost the second set by scoring only 15 points Germany coach Hen WAN LEE was after more in the third set but much to his and the German fans disappointment, his team could only score 16 in the third set and China had sealed their third win of the tournament.

YANG and ZHANG topped China's scoring with 14 points each, while ZHOU added 12. Germany were as always led by GRUN who had 13 points.
