Women s Olympic Games 2004 - Press Conference

Press conference

Germany beat Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-21) - duration 1:17
22-Aug, start time: 9:00, end time: 10:17 - Attendance: 2'300
City: Athens; Hall : Peace and Friendship Stadium
Angelina GRUN (GER) - captain

"I am very satisfied with this win. We needed it after our two defeats recently. Our team played well. For us, it is going to be tough to reach the quarterfinals, but even if we do not go through, we will still be proud of our efforts in this Olympic tournament. We are waiting for this evening's match between Cuba and the USA. If Cuba wins, we go through to the next phase. I believe it is going to be a tough match, which will reach the fifth set."

Hee Wan LEE (GER) - head coach

"We are satisfied. It was a straight sets win. We played well. In the third set, my team had to fight tougher in order to win this match. We had to be concentrated because the Dominican Republic is a strong team. Now, we are waiting for Cuba's win. If we reach the quarterfinals, it is going to be a big success for German volleyball."

Jorge Ignacio GARBEY CASTILLO (DOM) - head coach

"My team was down from the very beginning of the match. When we started playing well, things started to go against us, which led my players to not want to "chase" after the set. It was our last match at the Olympic Tournament. I am not satisfied by our performance. We could have done better."
