Argentina’s Jon Uriarte was appointed the Australian men’s team head coach in June, 2001.

Since then he has been installing his wealth of experience and knowledge into a side that he first put together three years ago. Together, with assistant coach Russell Borgeaud, Uriarte has been working for this moment since he was first appointed and is now looking forward to seeing the abundant talent in this young Australian side come together and be a force at the 2004 Olympic Games.

Uriarte played for the national Argentina men’s team from 1981 until 1992, and was a member of the team that finished third at the 1982 World Senior Championships and won a bronze medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games.
