Alberto Fabián
Armoa was born in Buenos Aires on March 17,
1964. He started playing Volleyball as junior
player for Velez Sarfield Team in 1981 before
starting his coaching career in 1984 with the
Instituto Malbernat team.
After coaching posts with Circulo General
Belgrano, Nueva Chicago, Universidad Buenos
Aires and Velez, Armoa began coaching both the
Obras Sanitarias men's team and the Velez
Sarfield women's team. In September 2003, Armoa
was appointed coach with the task of gaining
Olympic qualification and he did immediately at
the South America Continental Qualification
Tournament played in Venezuela in January.
Bidegain, Darraidou, Elgueta, Ferraro, Giani,
Meana (L), Milinkovic (C), Patti, Peralta,
Porporatto and Spajic are going to Athens,
“first with the goal of getting the Olympic
Diploma (qualify for the quarterfinals – the
best eight teams) and then a medal,” Armoa said.
In the long run, he adds, “I want to put
Argentina among the first five teams in the
world, qualify for the Final Round of the 2006
World Championship in Japan and return Argentina
to the World League”. |
