Poland secure quarterfinal spot
Poland needed to win at least two sets against Argentina in order to finish ahead of France who had two victories but in the end they managed to win the match and now they hope for a better place than fourth in Pool A.

Serbia and Montenegro's match against Greece will determine, which team finishes in first and fourth place in the group.

Led by Dawid MUREK, who spiked with incredible efficiency (nine successful spikes out of 10 attempts in the first two sets) and Piotr GRUSZKA, Poland got off to a roaring start in the first set. Andrzej STELMACH set the ball superbly and Poland sailed to an easy first set win, conceding only 19 points.

Argentina improved their defence and blocking in the second set and captain Marcos MILINKOVIC became more efficient with his spiking. But Poland proved to be more determined and managed to fight back from 20-21 down to lead 24-21. Sebastian SWIDERSKI's spike sealed the 25-22 victory for Poland.

But, by this stage Argentina were improving all the time and with MILINKOVIC really hitting top form the South Americans turned things around from a four-point deficit (18-14 and 20-16) to go ahead 22-21. Alejandro SPAJIC's spike meant an exciting 25-23 win for Argentina.

Argentina's morale was now sky-high. They took the early lead in the fourth set and never fell behind. The final 25-22 sent the match to the tiebreaker.

The fight between the two teams star players was really fascinating. MILINKOVIC and GRUSZKA were determined to lead their team to the win. Argentina always managed to answer back and tie the score. But two points by Robert SZCZERBANIUK (one spike and one service-ace) clinched the final set 20-18 for Poland.

GRUSZKA and MUREK were the top scorers for the winners having 30 and 22 points respectively, while MILINKOVIC top scored for Argentina with 31 points.
