Serbia & Montenegro skips past France
Defending Olympic champions Serbia and Montenegro rebounded from their opening round shock-defeat to Poland by beating France in straight-sets, 3-0 (25-21, 30-28, 25-22) at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Tuesday.

Despite the final score line the match was never an easy job for Serbia and Montenegro. The clash between the world number three - Serbia and Montenegro - and world number four France was a classic.

The first set went point-by-point until Ivan MILKOVIC, Andrija GERIC and class setter Nikola GRBIC led their team to a 5-2 run that claimed the set 25-21 after leading 20-19.

After a surprise defeat to Argentina on day one France were desperate not to lose control of another match and the second set saw them come out with a lot more vigor. Frantz GRANVORKA, Hubert HENNO, and Stephane ANTIGA were not willing to give up. The battle between the two top-teams seemed endless before a serve-ace of GRBIC and a kill-block by MILKOVIC sealed the set for the Blue team.

After going to close in the second set France found it hard to pick themselves up in the third. Once Serbia and Montenegro claimed the lead early in the set they never lost it and ran out eventual winners comfortably.
MILKOVIC (23 points), GERIC (12) and Vladimir GRBIC (10) were the leading scorers for the winners, while GRANVORKA stepped up offensively for France with 12 points.
