City: Athens; Hall : Peace and Friendship Stadium
Daniel HOWARD (AUS) - middle blocker

"We are very disappointed to lose today. We really wanted to get to the quarterfinals. The US played really well. We didn't play good enough in order to win."

Clayton STANLEY (USA) - universal

"Today we fought as a united team. We played well in the first, third and fourth set. In the second set we started slowly. The Australians were ahead of us in points and we started playing a bit late. For the next match against Brazil, we need to be concentrated and focused in order to play good Volleyball."

Jon URIARTE (AUS) - head coach

"I believe that we did fine. We have done pretty well in the last three years. It is our first time at the Olympic Games outside of Australia. It is the starting point for the next chapter. The US were really competitive."

Doug BEAL (USA) - head coach

"I am very happy to have won this match. All the players played really good. It was the first match that we had to play so early in the morning, and it was a completely different programme for us. Now, we have to play well against Brazil."

Travis MORAN (AUS) - libero

"We are very disappointed because we lost two very important matches, which were the key for our qualification to the quarterfinals. The US played very well, especially in the third set. Regarding the Athens Olympic Games, everything is great, I never seen anything like it, congratulations!"
