Ankara, Turkey, August 14, 2011- Coming off wins against Serbia and Puerto Rico in their first two Pool C matches of the 2011 FIVB Girls Youth World Championship, China kept their momentum going with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-15, 25-21, 25-20) victory over fighting USA team in the pool closure show at Baskent Hall in Ankara, Turkey on Sunday.

It wasn’t an easy job for the 13th World ranked Chinese team as they lost the first set against the fighting USA team ranked second and they had to rebound back and win three successive sets.
China topped the pool with the clean sheet 3-0 to proceed to Pool E of the second round, while USA dropped to 1-2 and become the biggest outsiders as they will compete for the 9 to 16 standings in Pool G.
The Chinese big gun Ruoya Xu was her team best scorer with 20 points while Jordan Burgess was USA best scorer with 15.
The match started with rapid Chinese dominance on the court, so after Ningya Tang's and Ting Zhu's spikes count become 5-0. Despite all USA's attempts to attack or gain any point, China took the court under control and went into the first technical timeout 8-1 ahead.
After the break USA improved their performance in such a way that after successful spike of Amber Rolfzen decreased the gap. However the second TTO came with Chinese lead again, 16-10. Two sequent spikes be Paulina Prieto and successful blocks by USA together with outside hits by China brought the draw 22-22. The tough fight continued until the last seconds and finally USA managed to pull through this set, 26-24.
The second set started with the same tension, this time China again started to gain points faster than USA and went to the FTT with 8-3 lead. Number one of China Ruoya Xu this time again showed own skills in spiking. Just repeating the first set USA started to advance own performance towards the STT, which came with Chinese lead 16-8. But this time China did not lost the dominance and did their best to resist USA. Hits by Xu and Ting Zhu bring Chinese lead 22-14. The set ended with Chinese victory 25-15.
The third set started with even bigger tension. This time teams went closely to each other. And the first technical timeout this time came after successful hit from Dalton with USA minimum lead 8-7. After the break China managed to go ahead 13-9. But USA without delay answered with 3-0 run, 13-13. To the second technical timeout USA again went with one point advantage 16-15.
The same tight struggle went on after the break. But China made one more effort and run forward to 24-21. With one more tip China won third set, 25-21.
The fourth set was critical for USA's victory, however even with this victory over China they could not take the second place in Pool C to pass to the second round. USA started with high pressure and led during first minutes, 8-6. Balance in count reflected the tightness of fights on the court. The STT came with 16-14 lead of China, who reached it thanks to the spike from Chinese Xu continuing to attack the opposite side. After the break China managed to increase the gap with hits by Zhu and Xu. While on the US side more regulative at this time were McCage and Jordan Burgess. The last point in this match was made by Tang hitting the opponents and bringing victory to her team. China won 25-20.
