Ankara, Turkey, August 13, 2011- Turkey continued their magnificent start to the 2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth World Championship with a hard-fought 3-0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-20) win over Egypt at Baskent Hall in Ankara, Turkey on Saturday.

The European champions early this year and ranked fifth in the world, have been in superb form in registering two wins in row in Pool A securing a second round berth from win- loss ratio of 2-0 . As for the African champions Egypt the world No.10, this was their second defeat to drop to 0-2.
Turkey opposite spiker Ece Hocaoglu led her team's scoring with 15 points, while Captain Farida El Askalany was Egypt’s top scorer with 8.
The first set of this match started with a very tough fight. First point was scored by Turkey, but Egypt immediately caught them up. Spike by Ece Hocaoglu reversed the situation for Turkish advantage, 3-2. But immediate mistake by Turkey balanced the count again. However during the following minutes Turkey made a 7-0 run and reached the 10-3 score. So into the first technical timeout Turkey went with 8-3 lead.
After the break Turkey started to play with even more pressure, and with help of powerful spikes of Hocaoglu and tight blocks Turkey rapidly advanced their lead and went to the STT 16-5 ahead. Then pressure was increased with successful attacks of Ceylan Arisan and Seyma Ercan. The final point in the set was made by successful block of Egyptian by Cagla Akin. Turkey clearly overcame Egypt, 25-9.
The second set started in similar way with spike by Hocaoglu, and continued with clear advantage on Turkish side. So Turkey managed to go to FTT as clear leader. Entrance on the court of Laila Abdelhamid positively influenced the situation for Egyptian team which started to catch up to 14-10 with Turkish advantage.
So at the second break Turkey had only 16-11 lead after powerful spike by Hocaoglu. In the following minutes Egypt managed on a moment to reach the draw (16-16) but immediately Turkey regain initiative. The toughest fight started after this point when there were only about two points between Turkey and Egypt until the end of this set. But the loss of service by Laila Abdelhamid decided the result of the set. Turkey won 25-21.
The third set started with loss of spike by Turkey, it showed that Egyptian team adopted to powerful hits of Turkish players. And Egypt started to make more successful attacks. But it was not sufficient to overcome Turkey, so at the FTT of this set Turkey had 8-3 lead. Then Egypt made a 5-0 run and reach the balanced count 8-8. Again a tight struggle over each point started on the court. But after a several tense rallies Turkey reestablished own advantage that allowed them to go to the STT with leading 16-12.
Then again Turkey continued own pressure and despite all efforts of Egyptian team kept advantage in several points. The final spike was done by Ecem Alici, that gave Turkey the second victory in the Championship in Pool A
