Team profile

After being absent for two editions the Argentina girls’ youth team returns to the 2011 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ Youth World Championship this year.  In its last participation, in Macao 2005, the side finished eighth, the second best result in their history, only overcome by the seventh place in 1991.

There is a lot of hope falling on the side this year. At the South American Championship 2010, the light blue – white jersey overcame Peru, to qualify for the tournament as they finished second behind Brazil.

Since then the side has been preparing constantly, participating in the ACLAV Argentine A1 Senior Women Teams League, facing experienced senior teams, in an experience that already showed to be very positive in 2005.

The team also won the Baja California Cup in Mexico, where it obtained a very valuable victory in the last match playing Cuba.

Coach profile

Guillermo Cáceres took over the coaching of the Argentine Girls Youth Team in 2009, when the team did not have any official international competition and therefore he had time to work towards the 2010 South American Championship and the 2011 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ Youth World Championship.

The results obtained so far under his coaching has been the result of hard. He led the side at the South American Championship 2010, as well as through a season in the ACLAV A1 Senior Women League, international tours in Peru and Mexico, in open national competitions and in endless camps across the country.

Caceres, born in the Buenos Aires province city of Junin, was a coach in Italy for 21 years. His last team was for CPF Costruzioni SPAFI – Siena.  Previously he coached Potenza, Vicenza, Firenze, Sesto Florentino, Scandici, Figurella Firenze and Rifredi.
