"It's more than a great feeling" says Belgian star Lise van Hecke

Belgian captain Lise van Hecke: “It is a great feeling, after such a long fight and coming from two sets down we finally got the bronze medal, it is definitely great!”.

Coach Julien van de Vyver: “I think my girls have been learning a lot in this couple of days. First, after our defeat in the semifinal, I decided to speak with the girls, as a group and individually, and to keep the group as united as I could. There were obviously some doubts coming up after the semi, but I insisted that we have to stick together and maintain our goals. I also think this performance is even better than what we did at the European Champs where we paradoxically got gold, but here there were many more challenges, we had to fight much more and so I am more than happy with the bronze”.

Turkish captain Ceren Kestirengoz, who could not control her tears: “”We missed our chance in the fourth set, maybe we could have won in straight sets but we relaxed a bit in the third, the tie-break was definitely a nightmare for us”.

Coach Ismail Yengil: “I am very sad for the girls because they played a great match and tournament. But congratulations to Belgium, they had a great comeback”.
