Dominican head coach: "We eventually taste the first win in the championship. It's a big win because we beat world champions"

China head coach Wang Jiaqin: “Congratulations to Dominican Republic for the win. My girls did not play well. I’m not satisfied with their dismal form. In the fifth set, our reception was not good, while the setter also showed her below-standard performance. Dominican Republic attacked well against our blocking. They played a relaxed match, while we had much pressure playing against them. We next play Egypt and I hope that my girls will improve their form.”

Captain Yao Di: “I’m not satisfied with my team’s form. Our good performance was only in the first set. It was a competitive competition. Later, we dropped our form miserably.”

Dominican Republic head coach Enrique Larrazaleta: “I’m very glad that we eventually won our first match in the championship. The win is very vital to us since we could beat China, defending champions. It’s a proof that although China is very strong, they are not unbeatable.”

Captain Yeniffer Cristina Ramirez Espinal: “I’m very satisfied with my team’s performance. Although we lost the previous three matches, we never gave up. I think we played much better than China.”
